Galeries Lafayette’s FFWD Pop Up Store Returns March 15th-April 15th, 2016

Shop regional talent from the Fashion Forward Dubai runways in store


DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, 17th March 2016 – Coveted catwalk looks from regional designers can be yours at Galeries Lafayette this March 15th – April 15th: the second FFWD Pop Up Store will take place at Galeries Lafayette’s Womenswear department, 1st floor, The Dubai Mall and fashionistas will be able to purchase Spring/Summer ’16 collections from five selected regional designers.

Following the success of the first retail partnership in September 2015, Galeries Lafayette has once again selected labels that showcase at FFWD. The selected looks from Spring/Summer ‘16 collections, which debuted at FFWD in October 2015, will be on sale from March 15th-April 15th, 2016.

“The results of last season’s FFWD Pop Up Store have been positive and we have decided to replicate the partnership, to affirm our aim of developing young local talents and upcoming designers and make the Pop Up a seasonal recurrent event in Dubai’s fashion calendar,” said Pascal Abchee, General Manager, Galeries Lafayette, The Dubai Mall.

The labels available at the FFWD Pop Up Store are:

ARMY OF 1: A contemporary sportswear brand designed to bridge functionality with everyday luxury, Army Of 1 is a Dubai-based label launched in 2014 by designers by Doha Challah and Nissreen Darawish. The PANORAMA collection for Spring/Summer ’16 comprises ready to wear pieces using a mixture of light woven textures such as cotton, silk blends and jersey with accents of mesh and prints.

BEDOUIN – Designed and developed by Central Saint Martins’ graduate Andraya Farrag, BEDOUIN is a contemporary womenswear label that aspires to create flattering, easy-to-wear collections with a confident, spontaneous style. The White Sands Spring/Summer ’16 collection explores a stripped back take on the Aztec tribes of South America, through tone on tone embroidery along with sheer stripes and chevrons.

MIRA HAYEKLebanese designer Mira Hayek presented her Spring/Summer ’16 collection at FFWD as part of the Starch Foundation.  In the ‘Time To Play’ collection Hayek uses crepe, organza, silk and quilted poly, inspired by a black and white photograph by John Rawlings from 1955 where a women sports a playful polka-dotted towel on her head.

ORKALIA – Dubai based label Orkalia’s ‘Transparency’ collection is inspired by elements of the Russian sarafan (traditional Russian pinafore dress) with hints to non-regality. Through the collection, designer Orchid Ganji explores a woman’s vulnerability and that being a complex confident woman doesn’t mean she is perfect.


ZENA PRESLEY – Having made her FFWD debut with her SS 16 collection, Zena Presley is a Syrian-born, Dubai-based designer who creates ready-to-wear womenswear. The Spring/Summer ’16 collection is inspired by Expressionism – the modernist art movement which typically presents the world from a subjective perspective – distorting reality for emotional effect. Her pieces use the work of three Arab expressionist artists.

The FFWD Pop Up Store is located in the Womenswear Department, First Floor, Galeries Lafayette, The Dubai Mall, and will be on from March 15th to April 15th, 2016.

Preview Fall/Winter ’16 looks at FFWD’s seventh edition, taking place from March 31st-April 3rd at Dubai Design District (d3) as the best apparel and accessories designers from the region will come together to showcase their new collections. For more information visit the FFWD website.
