“We are proud to be one of the leading Infertility, Gynecology, Obstetrics, Genetics and IVF centers in the GCC Region and the Middle East,” Dr. Michael Hassan Fakih, Medical Director of Fakih IVF, UAE said.
He told Emirates Tourism Magazine that “Fakih IVF” is the only center in the UAE and the Middle East that introduces a fully serviced in-house Genetics Laboratory.
“Our staff includes senior medical consultants on their original and innovative approach in treating all cases of infertility, who therefore achieve the highest success rates in treating all fertility cases,” he prides.
In his interview with Emirates Tourism Magazine, Dr. Fakih addressed the prospects of the 5th Annual Reproductive Symposium organized by Fakih IVF that would be held on 11-12 March 2016 in Dubai, as well as all other issues related to such vital specialization. The interview ran as follows:
· How many branches does Fakih IVF Center have?
The first IVF center was opened in Dubai, in 2011, followed by the second center in Abu Dhabi, in 2013, and then Fakih Medical Center, medical partner to Fakih IVF in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai, was opened in 2014. We will also be opening Fakih IVF branches in Al Ain, Western Region, Oman and Qatar within 2016.
· What are the major treatments offered by the center in such vital and subtle specialization?
Fakih IVF Center is among the leading gynecology, obstetrics and infertility centers specialized in Genetics and In Vitro Fertilization. It is marked for being a pioneer all over the GCC region and the Middle East.
It offers all kinds of assisted reproduction treatments with high success rates, including IVF, ICSI (Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection), Natural Fertilization Cycle, Gender Selection, Screening for hereditary diseases through PGD, CCS(Comprehensive Chromosomal Screening), Male Infertility, IUI Artificial Insemination, Natural IVF Cycle, Preserving Fertility, etc.
· As the center is keen to recruit the best physicians specialized in infertility treatment, can you elaborate to us about the team working with you?
We are highly proud that Fakih IVF Center has a selection of board-certified leading doctors who use new and innovative technologies in treating all cases of infertility. The medical team at Fakih includes experts in various fields of reproductive medicine, including IVF, gynecology and urology.
Perhaps the excellent academic level of the staff members and the considerable expertise they enjoy is the best motive for the center to pursue its efforts in developing medical protocols, which increases success rates for the operations it conducts in the region.
Fakih IVF staff boasts their ability to “treat the most difficult infertility cases, which imparts to it a considerable role in medical progress in this field.”
· How does the center invest modern technology to reach the best results in the field of fertilization?
IVF technology has largely developed, and we have come a long way in the field compared to our progress in the eighties and the nineties, and until the beginning of the millennium. Our clinics are furnished with the most advanced high-tech fittings, and we are always in the lead.
We have to persist in developing our performance and in perfecting our work. Fakih IVF carefully seeks to provide the best possible services to spouses who suffer reproduction difficulties and to maintain high success rates. This is done through employment of the best scientific techniques and investment of the latest technological devices in the field.
The center is therefore the only one in the Middle East that introduces a full-service in-house Genetics Laboratory. It has also been a pioneer in introducing the first Embryo Scope in the UAE, which is a groundbreaking technology in the field of reproductive medicine.
· What is that EmbryoScope, which represents a peculiar advantage for the center?
EmbryoScope is an incubator with a built-in camera that takes a series of periodical pictures using time-lapse system of embryo as it grows. This new and revolutionary incubator has a built-in camera that takes periodical pictures of embryos as they grow to ensure the best of embryos is selected for transfer. Fakih IVF is the first center in the region to adopt this technology with the most experiences handling staff.
What about the center involved expertise and capacity in helping couples, already having children infected with leukemia, beget healthy babies?
Fakih IVF has already succeeded, for the first time in the UAE, in helping couples having a child infected with leukemia beget another healthy baby with the same leukocytes of the leukemic sibling through bone marrow transplant. This was done with the purpose of helping the sick child to overcome the disease through bone marrow transplant following DNA tests to the second baby to make sure it is not infected with leukemia.
· May you elaborate on the success rates for IVF and infertility treatment?
IVF and infertility treatment operations are pendent on age. So, a woman in her mid 30’s has a 63% success rate compared to 54% for a woman between ages 38 and 40. As for women over 40, their success rates decline by around 25%. Here, we affirm that agreement to run an IVF operation should be preceded by verification that the patient does not suffer any cardiac diseases or breast cancer.
· What about the 5th Annual Reproductive Symposium?
This high-quality CME symposium is organized by Fakih IVF to share the latest advancements in reproductive medicine with other physicians in the UAE and worldwide to apply their knowledge in their practice to better care for the community. The event brings together local and international obstetricians, gynecologists, urologists, infertility specialists, embryologists, lab personnel, nurses and trainees. The event will be held on March 11 and 12, 2016 at Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai.
